Store Brand vs Name Brand

How many times have you seen the words “compare to …..?”

I used to think that I had to have the name brand of everything.  It was much better…. wasn’t it?  As I have grown older, I have found this isn’t always true.  There are still some things that I must have the name brand for, such as mayonnaise and ketchup, but most items the store brand is just fine.

Is 200mg of ibuprofen any less effective if it doesn’t have the brand name you heard on television?  No, it still gets rid of the headache at the same rate of speed.

Store brands are always cheaper and 9 times out of 10 contain the exact same ingredients as the name brands.  Some store brands are even manufactured by the same companies that make the name brand.

There are a few that you have to watch out for, such as canned vegetables.  They are fine and usually good quality but they require a little checking before serving as they don’t always remove all stems from the veggies, but they are still good.

So if you are looking to save a few dollars on your weekly shopping I would definitely recommend store brands.
